Poppy had nowhere to be. She was new in the town. She didn’t know many people in town nor any of the places. She spent her extra time walking down the streets trying to find a place she would love to go to. Back in England she’d be in a bar pretending to be eighteen to get a drink, but here? It was twenty one. That was ridiculous! She could not believe it. She ran a hand through her blonde hair. Well a bar was bar, she could at least get a soda. The girl’s heels made their usual clicking noise while she continued on. Her hands were in her pockets and she was singing softly while her blue eyes wondered over the sites. Poppy already found her favorite thrift store and café. She wasn’t getting use to things, now she just needed to get her hands on a car. But that required a job and honestly she wasn’t in hurry to find one, she was happy being on her walks.
She thought about her options. Poppy managed to finish her homework early, but she was the type of gal who got things out of the way so she go have fun later on. But here she hadn’t met anyone who would know of places to go. She sighed and stopped. She looked around and her blue eyes finally landed on the perfect place. She looked both ways and jogged across the street. Poppy took a minute before she opened the door and walked on in. The light was a bit different but her eyes adjusted. It felt like home, well until she heard some people talking. They had funny accents and it made the girl giggle. Poppy soon realized though, she was now the one who had the funny accent. “Bloody hell.”
The girl ran her hand through her hair and took a seat the bar. This would be the moment she showed her fake i.d. and get that beer, but she can’t do that here, sadly. The girl looked at the options. She titled her head a bit and tapped her chin with her index finger. “Um excuse me,” the girl began with a raise of her hand. “Can I get Dr. Pepper?”

James had been down at the bar area for most of the day since the day bar staff had called in sick so he was doing bar documents while keeping an eye on the bar, serving the costumers when ever they went up to the bar. "Why did I have to own a bar, it is so much hassle." James thought as his gaze turned up at the ceiling while he let out a sigh in frustration. One of the customers walked over to him and asked James if he was alright. "Everything is fine, I just wonder sometimes if it is really worth me owning this bar as I don't really need to work a day in my life but it makes me feel proud that I don't need to rely on my parent's name or their money." James said as he smiled at the customer before he went back to his work.
A few minutes later he heard the door to the bar open so he turned to look and saw a cute blond haired female who couldn't be no older than twenty one and that would be pushing it. He noticed the female's eyes adjusting to the light so he smirked slightly as he tries to figure out the female's age. James raised an eye brow as he noticed that the female looked like she was at home at the bar. "So is she a regular at bars?" James thought. James raised an eye brow when the female started giggling when she heard some of the customers talking. "She must be foreign if she thinks the accents here are funny, but where could she be from?" James thought. James shook his head slightly when he heard the female speak slightly. "British." James said more to himself than anyone else.
James got up and walked to behind the bar as the female took a seat at the bar. Some customers brought over some empty glasses before they made there exit, James started to wipe them before he stuck them in the dish washer as the female sat deep in thought about something. James looked at the female as she called him over so he walked over to her "What can I get you miss?" James asked. When he heard what the female wanted he went and got a can of Dr Pepper. "Would you like a glass and ice with your Dr Pepper?" James asked the female as went and got his drink and work from the table he was at before he went back to behind the bar. "So I take it you go to bars quite often from where you are from but you don't seem like the kind of female who would waste her day by drinking alcohol." James said as he tried to get a read on the female. "The name is James Kent by the way." James said as he held out his hand to the female.

Poppy shook her head, “I’m fine with the can.” She said taking the drink and popping it open. “Thanks.” She told him when he left her alone and went back to whatever he was doing beforehand. The girl sipped her drink and kicked her legs under the bar, tapping the wall of the bar lightly with her shoe. She went in for another sip and the man was back in front of her. She titled her head to the side and looked at him. She listened to him and shrugged her shoulders. “I used to go to a pub with me dad back home. We use to watch the game. He’d buy me some food and made me explain what was going on.”
She took in another sip of her Dr. Pepper. “I didn’t start drinking until I was eighteen.” That was a lie. She was just sixteen. But she had a fake i.d. saying other ways she got for her fifteenth birthday from her friends. “But no, I didn’t waste me life away in one. Just a beer and lots of laughs.” She nodded. That was mostly it. She’d get a beer her friends would get something as well and they’d sit around and laugh for hours talking about school and the game. Most of the people she hung out back home we guys though. They seemed to get along with a young Poppy better than the girls. The girl looked down at his hand and took it with a firm grip. “Alright Mr. King. I’m Poppy Montgomery.” She said giving him her introduction. She let go and then grabbed her soda and took another sip.
Poppy looked down at the papers. ”That does not look like fun.” She shook her head. A pile of papers were never fun. The other reason she got rid of her homework quick after school. Why have it laying around. The blonde shook her head and drank some more of her soda. “Okay so you’re pretty much a native here, or know the sites.” She spoke up and titled her head again. “Where are the good places around here?” She needed to ask someone. Waiting around for friends at school was taking to long. And when you ask, it might give potential friends, the wrong idea about herself. Here, she wasn’t planning to the see the guy very much.

"That is good news for me, since it means it is one less thing I need to wash up." James said jokingly to the female. "No problem. If you need anything else just ask and I am sure you could have it." James said not really planning on giving her alcohol unless she has an I.D. that says she is twenty one. James gritted his teeth gently when he heard the female tapping the wall of the bar with her shoe. "You have a very cute accent, I don't really hear it that often around here. Are you on holiday from Britain?" James said hoping that his guess is right about where she is from. James looked at the female not really sure if he believed the females story about going to the pub with her dad. "What kind of male needs his daughter to explain what is happening in a game?" James asked flirting with the female slightly.
"Ah, the law of different places." James said as he smirked at the female. "Between you and me I started drinking when I was fifteen." James said as he winked at her. "I didn't mean that you wasted your time in a bar... or pub as it is called in some places. You just seem to be at home here, so I just thought you spent a lot of time in this sort of surrounding from where you're from." James said hoping that the female wasn't to angry about the way he had said she spends a lot of time in a bar. "The name is Mr. Kent, but most people call me James as Mr. Kent is more to do with my father than me." James said as she shrugged slightly.
James raised an eye brow slightly as he noticed Poppy looking down at his work load. "It's not that fun, especially when you have to do all of this load, do the orders for the next delivery and keep an eye on the bar." James said as he let out a sigh in frustration before he looked back at the female when she started to speak again. "I am a native, why do you ask?" James asked. He smirks at Poppy's next question. "Now that depends on three things. The three things are how old are you, if you have I.D. and what kind of music you like to listen to?" James said trying to be as helpful as possible for the female. James walked away from Poppy and came back a few minutes later with a Jack Daniels for him and a alcohol drink for Poppy. "On the house." James said flirting with her through a smirk. "So, Poppy what did bring you to this pub over all of the others in this area?" James asked slightly glad as it means he has someone to have a convocation with and an excuse to delay the paper work.
